
Job description
As our new EHS Manager, you will manage the development, implementation and continuous improvement of our local health, safety, and environmental activities. You will drive the corporate EHS agenda locally while ensuring full compliance with local Safety and Environmental regulations and introducing Safety improvement programs that contribute in achieving our Zero accident vision. This is a unique opportunity to manage all aspects of EHS and develop a strong safety culture across our two sites in Oslo, while participating in the safe ramp-up of our new, state of the art chemical production facility. The position reports to the Plant Manager and is a member of the Plant Leadership team.
Key Responsibilities:
Performs periodic safety inspections and compliance audits.
Establishes and maintains up to date safety procedures, SOP’s, job descriptions, and training requirements.
Provides recommendations and assists plant management in improving safety procedures.
Ensures up to date emergency contingency plans, and SDS requirements are maintained.
Manage and track behavior- based safety observation programs STAR and STAR+.
Assists plant management with process safety issues and conducting accident and incident investigation; establishes preventive measures to eliminate or reduce potential for reoccurrence.
Reviews capital projects and plant alterations to ensure compliance with all safety requirements.
Prepares safety and compliance reports as required by management and outside organizations.
Ensures all permits are maintained appropriately.
Works with outside safety organizations to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. Serves as the primary contact responsible for assisting with EH&S audits.
Perform other related duties.
Approver for EHS impacting procedures and changes
Works closely with our Occupational Health Service supplier to ensure health, safety and occupational health hazard risks are known and mitigated according to statutory requirements
Serves as a liaison with surrounding community as it relates to EHS.
Job requirements
Candidate Profile:
5+ years’ experience working in the EHS environment in the industrial sector, ideally in a chemical / pharma / food producer.
University degree in occupational safety and health, environmental science, or other relevant subject and/or appropriate recognized professional HSSE qualifications or experience.
Strong understanding of Process Safety.
Alternative background in the Norwegian Armed Forces will be equally considered.
Broad knowledge of Norwegian Environmental, Occupational Health, and Safety regulations
Effective communication skills in Norwegian (or another Scandinavian language) and English.
